Tofu Nian Gao
Chinese rice cake also called Niao Gao. It is a delicious traditional Chinese dessert. And the perfect combination of tofu and rice cake creates a healthy and delicious tofu niao gao. That is a great creation!
How to make tofu nian gao
INGREDIENTS
• 150g lactone tofu, drained
• 70g glutinous rice flour
• 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
• red bean paste
• shredded coconut or sesame (option)
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Use a spoon to pour the tofu into the mud and put it in a bowl. Add glutinous rice flour and granulated sugar in the bowl and mix well.
2. Roll the dough into long strips and divide them into small doughs. Then roll the small dough one by one into the ball in the palm of your hand. Press a small nest on the top of the ball with your thumb, and place the red bean paste filling in the nest. Shape it into an around the ball.
3. Brush a layer of oil at the bottom of a steaming pan and put the glutinous rice balls on top. Place the steaming pan in the steamer with boiled water and steam it for 5-6 minutes.
4. Transfer the tofu niao gao on a plate and roll a layer of sesame or shredded coconut.

We just finished eating this for supper and we will be making it regularly. Great dessert!
I just got back from China and this was one of my favorite dishes! It’s amazing to me that something as simple as tofu and flour could be so good…definitely going to have to try making this!
