The spicy tofu jerky is an amazing dish that I know. And I realize it may appear to be insane to make spicy tofu jerky yet you won’t be baffled. With the majority of the fiery flavoring and its chewy dried consistency, you presumably won’t understand that it is tofu.
How to make spicy tofu jerky
INGREDIENTS
• 400g Tofu Jerky, drain and cut into triangles
• 3 dried chilis, chopped
• 1 teaspoon Sichuan peppercorns, black seeds removed then ground
• 1 tablespoon sugar
• 2 tablespoons dark soy sauce
• 1 teaspoon chili powder
• 1 teaspoon cumin powder
• 2 tablespoons olive oil
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 teaspoon fennel
• 1 teaspoon pepper
• 1 teaspoon white sesame
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Heat vegetable oil in a wok, add tofu jerky and fry until each side becomes golden. Transfer it on a plate. Set aside.
2. Heat the remaining oil again, add sugar and fry under low heat until the sugar turns brown and starts to bubble. Then add the dried chilis, Sichuan peppercorns, and tofu jerky and stir-fry a few times.
3. Pour 1 small bowl of water in the wok. Add dark soy sauce and salt, and cook under high heat until boiling. Then reduce the heat and cook until the sauce has thickened.
4. Seasoning with chili powder, cumin powder, fennel, and pepper. Transfer the tofu jerky on a plate. Sprinkle the white sesame. Serve.
