Marinated tofu is one of the most famous specialty snacks in Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, China. Sweet is the main taste of this dish, the outer skin is tough and chewy, and the inside is soft and tender.
How to make marinated tofu
INGREDIENTS
• 2 teaspoons dark soy sauce
• 2 teaspoons honey
• 300g tofu puffs (fried bean curd)
• 3 anise
• 1 tablespoon sugar
• 1 teaspoon chicken essence(option)
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon sesame oil
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Boil about 1 L of water and cook the tofu puffs for 2-3 minutes to bring out the oil of the tofu puffs. Transfer the tofu puffs on a plate and pour off the water.
2. Pour water and cook until boiling. Add tofu puffs and seasoning with anise, salt, sugar, soy sauce, and chicken essence. Cover the lid and cook under middle high heat until the sauce reduced to the desired thickness.
3. Sprinkle sesame oil and honey after cooling. Transfer on a plate and serve.
